How to Ganesh Chaturathi Puja Vidhi

Lord   Ganesha is worshipped with all sixteen rituals along with chanting of puranik Mantras during Ganesha chaturathi Puja. which is called Vinayak Chaturathi Puja. Worshipping Gods and Goddess with all sixteen rituals is called Shodashoparachara Puja.

Although Ganesha Puja can be done during prathakala, madhyahkala, and sayanahkala but madhyahankala is preffered during Ganesha Chaturathi Vidhi Puja.madhyahkala Puja time for ganesha puja can be known at  Ganesha Chaturathi Vidhi Puja Muharat.

All rituals which are prescribed during Ganesha Puja ara given below and it also includes 16 steps ,which are prescribed in Sodhashoparachara Puja.Deep-prajawalan  and sankalpa are done before starting the  Puja  and these two are not part of of core 16 steps Sodhashorachara Puja.

If you have lord Ganesha Installed  at your home and is worhipped daily then avahana and Pratishatapan should be skipped as these two rituals  are done for newely bught statues of Lord Ganesha either made of clay or made of metal.It should be noted that pre-installed statues of lord Ganesha at home are not given visarjan but given uthanapan at the end of puja,


On Ganesha Chaturathi Vidhi Puja,devotes also perform Eka Vinshati Name Ganesha Puja and Lord ganesha Puja anga puja along with the below Sodhashorachara Puja.


1..Avahana and Pratishtapan .
 Avahana--

Puja should begin with invocation of Lord Ganesha , one should clant following Mantra in front of the Murti, by showing avahana Mudra.(Avahana Mudra is formed by joining both palms and folding both thumbs inwards.

Prathishtapan

After Lord Ganesha has been invoked , installing Lord Ganesha into the statue while chanting following Matras.
                Asyai Pranah Prathishtatantu Asyai Pranksharantu  Cha  |
                Asyai Devatmarchayai Mamaheti Cha Kashchana  ||

Om Sidhi-Budhi Sahitaya Shri Mahagandhipataye Namah     |
                  Suprathishto Varado Bhava                                    ||


2.Asana Samararpan    

After Lord Ganesha has been invoked and got installed , take five flowers in Anjali (by joining palm of both hands ) and leave them front of the Murti to offer seat to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.
